Most Bizarre Own Goal

The Quarriers Reserve Grade went down 3 – 0 against a top of the table Thistle side that is as good as its First Grade.  The score sounds emphatic but not a true indication of how this match played out.  Kiama were down 2 – 0 after four minutes and had conceded possibly the seasons most bizarre own goal that saw a midfielder, we won’t mention his name, hit a screamer at his own goal from fifteen metres out.  If only it had been at the other end he would have been a superstar.

Overall the team played well and deserved better.  They pushed the ball around well and controlled the game for long periods but seemed to lose concentration at various times during the game.  The second half was all Kiama but by that stage the game was gone and the boys felt a bit disappointed in themselves to lose 3 – 0.

It is not often that a goalkeeper on the losing side is the best player in the team but that was the case in this game and Kiama’s keeper, Dean Lee was the Kiama Leagues Club Man of the Match.  He had an excellent game and could not be blamed for any of the goals.
