KIAMA LADIES SOCCER TEAM BEATEN 4 – 0

BY KEMBLAWARRA

Last Sunday the Kiama Ladies Soccer Club played Kemblawarra Ladies Soccer Club at McLelland Park, Kembla Grange.  The girls were beaten 4 – 0 but learned a valuable lesson during the match.

Kiama came into the match with only eleven fit players and had no substitutes.  The fell asleep early on and let Kemblawarra score two early goals, both of them very good efforts.

This stirred the girls into action and after the opening fifteen minutes of the game, which were dominated by Kemblawarra, the local girls got stuck in and played terrific soccer.  It was disappointing that Kemblawarra scored two second half goals as the Kiama team played well enough to salvage a draw.  They have learned that you have to get stuck in from the opening whistle and to take your chances in front of goals.

This is the girls first year in the competition and it is a steep learning curve for them.  They are coming on in leaps and bounds and a first win is just around the corner.  Best for Kiama were Hanna Beattie who was all over the park and Hayley Beringer, the Kiama Leagues Club Player of the Match.

Next Sunday the girls play at Barrack Heights Oval against University.  Kick off is at 11.00am and all soccer supporters are encouraged to come and have a look.
